6,000 celebrate inaugural UCD Festival

Posted June 30, 2016

The 6,000 alumni, staff and members of the local community who attended the inaugural UCD Festival recently enjoyed a diverse showcase of what the university has to offer, and contributed to making the event a resounding success.

The festival took place across Belfield on Saturday, June 18, and provided visitors with a unique opportunity to discover the state of the art facilities at UCD, explore the new buildings and the beautiful parkland campus.

The dry weather and occasional spells of summer sunshine on the day also enhanced the colourful carnival atmosphere that prevailed.

Young and old enjoyed over 100 free events that were taking place throughout campus; including talks by some well known UCD alumni, workshops, debates, food fairs, exhibitions, guided tours, sporting events, and artistic and musical performances.

New faces at UCD, as well as those who hadn’t been back on campus for a while, also sampled the exceptional research work and teaching resources that UCD provides.
