4Women - Women’s Health webinars

Healthy UCD and Culture & Engagement have teamed-up to organise 4 topical health webinars especially for women (don’t worry we will follow-up with some for men also!). This programme for employees, held over Zoom, will be hosted by an expert in the subject area and followed by a Q&A session.

Bone Health Across the Lifespan

Assoc. Prof. Caitríona Cunningham, UCD School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science will explain why looking after bone health is critical to build bone and slow down bone loss across the lifespan for both women and men.  Osteoporosis is however more prevalent  in women  with  an associated  greater  risk of  fragility fracture  (e.g.  wrist, spine and hip fracture).

Caitríona is an MISCP and CORU registered Physiotherapist, and Musculoskeletal Health and Exercise researcher as well as being the Codirector of the UCD Better Bones Programme.

8 signs and symptoms of breast cancer

Olivia Carpenter, Breast Cancer Ireland Outreach Coordinator and Patient Ambassador will reveal her own journey through breast cancer and highlight the 8 signs and symptoms of a breast cancer diagnosis. Olivia is passionate about educating women of all ages about the importance of good breast health and how early detection can help cave lives.

Get involved

As part of UCD’s Gender Equality Action Plan, work is currently underway to develop guidance and look at different ways to raise awareness around the Menopause. If you would like to get involved in this work or provide any feedback as to actions that UCD could take to provide support in this area, please contact (opens in a new window)edi@ucd.ie with your contact details. We would welcome participation from the UCD community in this topic.
